General Education and Support for the Vision

2019 Programs

The 2019 version of the curricula incorporates a General Education curricular area and support for the Institutional Vision.

The courses that comprise this curricular area include foundational content and methodologies in specific fields of knowledge. Their purpose is to provide a broad educational foundation and strengthen students’ cognitive abilities and their opportunities for affective learning. These courses do not focus on the particular skills, techniques, or procedures associated with the students’ professional disciplines. Likewise, they are oriented toward reinforcing the attributes articulated in the Institution’s Vision.

At Tecnológico de Monterrey, the curricula integrate this curricular area through 15 mandatory credits and 15 elective credits, which may be earned through courses offered in diverse fields of knowledge. These courses pursue a specific formative purpose aligned with the objectives of General Education and with support for the Institutional Vision.

The course options available to fulfill both the 15 elective credits and the 15 mandatory credits for each academic program are presented in the following table, organized by field of knowledge.
