Semblanza
El Dr. Ferrer se dedica al estudio científico de la música. Recibió los grados de Doctor en Musicología y Maestría en Música, Mente y Tecnología por la Universidad de Jyväskylä, Finlandia. Y la Licenciatura en Música por la Universidad de las Américas-Puebla en México. Realizó estancias de verano en el Instituto de Psicoacústica y Música Electrónica en la Universidad de Ghent, Bélgica, en dónde profundizó en el estudio de los métodos usados en la musicología sistemática. Se formó como investigador en el Centro Finés de Excelencia para la Investigación Interdisciplinaria en Música. Actualmente es investigador en la Escuela Nacional de Educación, Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, y profesor en la carrera de Producción Musical Digital del Tecnológico de Monterrey.

- Actualmente se encuentra desarrollando algoritmos para investigar el fenómeno del timbre y sus efectos en el ser humano, particularmente en el desarrollo de las preferencias musicales.
- Explora convergencias entre los aspectos semánticos, perceptuales y acústicos del timbre musical desde la perspectiva de la cognición socialmente distribuida, combinando métodos de extracción de información musical y procesamiento de lenguajes naturales.
- Ha impartido cursos de teoría, sociología, percepción y cognición de la música, programación de audio y técnica vocal.
