Course Intention: In this course the student will have the opportunity to learn about Value based Knowledge Management (KM). Topics that will be covered are the origins, foundations, frameworks and the principal processes of KM: value systems in organizations, a knowledge-based strategy, the development of human capital, organizational learning, external business intelligence, value practices and tools for KM.

Teachers profile: A degree in a Knowledge Management related area. Experience in real Knowledge Management projects.

General content subject: This course presents an integral approach of one of the fundamental capitals in an organization. From a perspective of Knowledge Management, this course addresses some of the key elements that make possible their contribution of value to the organization. The course focuses in an interrelationship by which value systems and capitals from each agent (organization and employee) are congruently aligned in a win-win dynamic relation. It also covers three sub-processes of Human Capital Management: Learning organization management, competence systems and value practices systems.

Subject General Objective Identify and study the information technologies which support the knowledge management process from a third generation perspective. In this subject, the student will identify the third generation KM processes which can be supported by IT, moreover, the student will categorize all those processes into application areas and will analyze some of the existent tools offered for those areas. At the end of the course, the student will recognize the design features of the IT for the key processes of KM and will identify the benefits of using those technologies in the development of digital organizational memory and the flow of knowledge.

Course Intention: In this course the student will learn the nature of the knowledge-based businesses and the need of having a strategy. The course will cover the different forms of value for the organization, the nature of the intellectual capital from a broad perspective: identity, relations, human capital and instruments. The course will also cover topics related with business intelligence processes in the context of a value-based knowledge management strategy.
