Local Currency
“Peso” is the local currency. Most touristic places will accept US dollars as payment for good or services but the exchange rate will have to be fixed between you and the vendor with a significant lost for you so it is a good idea to change some money at the airport where you will get a very good rate. Euros are not accepted on most places. Major credit cards are of wide use (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) on hotels, restaurants and department stores. Taxis will not take credit cards unless you buy a ticket directly at their booth at the airport.

You can check the official exchange rate in:

You can arrive to the following airports:

Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (Ciudad de México) – MEX

Aeropuerto Internacional Miguel Hidalgo (Guadalajara) – GDL

Aeropuerto Internacional General Mariano Escobedo - MTY

If you are traveling with a passport from any of the countries listed on this webpage you MUST get a visitor’s visa BEFORE traveling to México. Please, let us know if you need a visa so we can provide you with a legal invitation letter for such purposes.

It is highly recommended that you take only authorized taxis at airports and hotels.
When you arrive to México City’s airport buy the ticket for your taxi directly at the taxi booths inside the airport’s terminal. The same applies for Monterrey´s and Guadalajara’s airport.
Transportation from hotel to campus will be provided by local campus.
For more details about transportation review the Program section.
